Did you change it in the Device Toolbar?
Are you using "Audacity 1.3.14 (Unicode)" (check the version in "Help > About Audacity")

Re: Limiter

peak is -19.6 dB. In theory, running the limiter with "Limit to" set to -15 dB should cause the audio to barely be touched, if at all. However, if I run it (with Make-up Gain turned off), everything gets pushed down to -29.1 dB. Am I not using it as intended? You're using it beyond its de...

Re: Can't record sound internally

I don't think that the option you need is listed. Do you have headphones or speakers plugged into your sound card? If not, could you plug some headphones into the sound card and then use the Windows Control Panel to configure the sound card so that programs play through the headphones (the informati...

Re: Intermittent hum during recording / play back.

I think I have worked out how to upload a file, so hopefully here it is as a wav file. Yes there is, thank you. The "buzz" sounds to me like a very fast "stutter", where a very short section of the audio is repeating, fast enough to sound like a buzz. For clarity, can you confir...

Re: Audacity appears to be increasing the bit rate?

If you are only doing cut/paste/trim type editing, then it is (marginally) better to keep everything in 16 bit and (temporarily) turn dither off. If you are doing any "processing" (which includes such things as "fade in/out", "Amplify", "Normalize", "Nois...

Re: selecting a segment to save ???

Your right - funny how I never noticed that, but I've always preferred to zoom out first so that I can see where I'm going as I drag (Ctrl + Mouse Wheel to zoom in/out). You may be able to scroll "off the edge" if the Audacity window is not maximised. I suspect that the behaviour you descr...

Re: Audacity appears to be increasing the bit rate?

"Dither" is a technique used to improve the conversion quality when down-sampling from a high bit format (bit depth) to a lower one. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dither In the case that waxcylinder is describing, the audio is being converted from 32 bit float to 16 bit. 16 bit audio is an ...

Re: record to W.M.P and not AUP

It will make life much more simple if you set Windows to show all file extensions. See here for how to do that: http://www.fileinfo.com/help/windows_show_extensions Read the link that Koz posted and it will explain that you can "Save" an "Audacity Project", but that Audacity Proj...
