Re: Converter for Sony microphone (ECM-MS957)
Decoding is just a matter of splitting the "side" recording (from a figure of 8 microphone) into left / right channels and inverting one side, then mixing in some of the "mid" (usually a cardioid mic) recording. This gives "Mid + Side" in one channel and "Mid - Si...

Short audio samples (under 1 MB) can be attached to your forum post. See the "upload attachment" tab below the message composing window.

I've not tried it yet, but adding the colour picker may well have more widespread use post 2.0 if they bring back theme support.

Re: expand on Norm's new track name in display
I do not understand how/why Norm's enhancement got committed in the face of the feature freeze and with no QA discussion. I agree that was irregular, but not entirely unwelcome. Re: Huim from the P.C.
If you disconnect the wireless receiver and record "silence", do you you still get the hum?
If you turn down all of the levels on the mixer, do you still get the hum?

Re: Save 24 bit uncompressed
Just to expand a bit on waxcylinder's reply: Do you know a way to export an Audacity project as a 24-bit uncompressed file? Yes, as described by waxcylinder. If you are working in 32-bit float, and export as a .wav file, is the data reduced to 16-bit? Yes. The default export format is 16-bit (Micros...

Re: making one track out of two(one recorded and other origi
I think the answer is to use "File > Export" rather than "File > Export Multiple". "File > Export" will mix together all tracks in the project and export as one stereo file (or mono if all of the tracks are mono tracks). if that's not the answer, could you try describin...

Re: Recording in "envelope"
The recording level is MUCH too high. The dark blue should not touch the top or bottom of the track. This shows a good recoding level: firsttrack000.png There is a comprehensive tutorial about recoding vinyl: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Tutorial_-_Copying_tapes,_LPs_or_minidiscs_to_CD Note th...
