Audacity tends to develop quite slowly. It's a very small team of volunteers. There are no major changes to macros in the next version, so I think this could be worth the time investment. I'll see if I can create a "proof of concept" and then we can take it from there.

@Koz, haven't we seen a previous post about a moukey MSc1 interface feeding back the output to the input?

It looks like a bad connection somewhere.
Have you tried jiggling the cables / connectors to see if you can make the right channel cut out / cut back in?

I expect that the GUI for macros will improve over time (it's rather basic at the moment, but at least it is usable). Audacity has "Software Playthrough" that will route the input signal through to the output while recording (Transport menu > Transport options), but note that software playthrough is relatively slow, so there will be a noticeable delay (typically around half a second).

Yes, the "subliminal.ny" effect (from here: download/file.php?id=3848) produces "single sided" AM encoding.
