Re: Crash after connecting USB mic
I have not tested on Linux, but I assume there is the same issue. Just for information, testing on Debian Squeeze with Audacity 1.3.15 alpha, USB support is very robust. Re: Can I improve on what I already do?
You seem to have it pretty well nailed, both in theory and practice. The only (minor) points I can think of are: There is some sub sonic (very low frequency) content in the audio. While this is too low to be audible the playback system will probably still try to reproduce those sounds, thus pushing ...

Re: Fast Forward with Sound?
Try clicking on the ruler at the top of the track panel. It does not make the track play fast, but it jumps the playback position instantly to where you click. Press Shift + A to stop playback and the playback cursor will stop at the current play position. (keep your hand hovering over the "shi...

Re: Putting 2 clips together
Import your audio clips - they will appear in tracks one above the other. Then use the Time Shift tool to slide one of the clips to the right so that one follows on from the other like this: trackpanel000.png When you Export (File menu > Export > Audio) the tracks will be combined (mixed) into a sin...

Not everyone can be Don Lafontaine. Have a listen to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imwl0Be0Y38 Notice how utterly dreadful the sound quality is, yet the quality of the voices are still unmistakeable. So how far have you got? There is no magic "voice over" button, but if you can post...

if you're using a full size computer you should probably be using the "Mic In" rather than the "Line In".hercules_rockefeller wrote:and i was using as a line-in source rather than a usb.
The Line In is often colour coded light blue.
