Re: Mono track to Stereo
This is about the best that I can do, and to be honest it is not much of an improvement. test2.flac 1) Split to Mono and delete one of the tracks (both tracks are near enough identical). If you intend to burn to CD, leave it as a 2 channel track. 2) Remove DC off-set 3) Low pass filter 48 dB per oct...

Re: Determining recording method from file (or logs)
What if I was recording in 24bit and not 32 float? If you still have the original data in an Audacity Project, then I think that may still be able to analyse the data as described previously. If you Exported as 24-bit, then the way that Audacity currently works, ALL exported audio passes through th...

Re: Windows 7
The easiest way to install on Windows is to download: Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7: Audacity 1.3.14 installer (.exe file, 18.4 MB) which is available from this page: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows (it's listed in the "Recommended Download" section). I'm usually a Linux user, but ...

Re: 78rpm EQ Curve Generator
Don't waste too much time struggling to decipher my disjointed notes
.
Here's the suggestions in context. (I've still not done anything about putting the output path verification part of the code into a reusable function).

Re: Determining recording method from file (or logs)
and yes I built it myself. Congratulations, that's one up on me :D So far I've failed miserably building on Windows (though I generally use Linux and build Audacity regularly on that). Yes you're correct. For 24 bit recording on Windows you (currently) need to use ASIO. If you still have the Audaci...

Re: splitting recorded music into separate tracks
I would not recommend Audacity 1.2.6. That version is very old and known to have problems on many modern machines. I'd recommend using Audacity 1.3.14 which you can get here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ The job that you are describing is much like the task of splitting a vinyl album recording ...

Re: Windows 7 64 bit and SoundBlaster X-F Xtreme Audio Issue
I read a horror story on a another forum that someone's entire sound mixer was completely gone from Windows 7 for their SB Audigy card after the install of Audacity. I don't have a SoundBlaster, but I'd say this is very unlikely to happen. I don't have a SoudBlaster X-F Xtreme either, but I'd say t...

Re: Determining recording method from file (or logs)
I assumed everything was cool but it may have actually been recording with MME instead of ASIO. Is there any way to tell which method was used 1) If the recording sounds OK, does it matter whether MME or ASIO was used? 2) Unless you built Audacity from the source code you should not have ASIO suppo...

Re: Dropping from 145 BPM to 87 BPM - Drumstep song
The "easiest" way is to use Audacity 1.3.14 and apply the "Change Tempo" effect (in the "Effect" menu).
You can get Audacity 1.3.14 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/
Note that the sound quality will go down as a result of the "time stretching".

and DLed Packages.gz; hope that is right... You're on your own with that :D I've no idea what is included in those packages. I've only ever installed from an installation disk (or a disk image when installing as a VM) I've used both the "netinst" using the "Small CD" from here: ...
