Re: Recording with JACK and a USB recording device in Audaci

Which Linux distribution are you using?
Do you have PulseAudio?
Do you have Pulseaudio module-jack-source and module-jack-sink?

Until now? What's happening now?
Is Jack actually running with hw:1 selected for both Input and Output Device? (you should see yellow lettering in QJackCtl that says "Started")

Re: Residual channel noise

when I click pause and then record If you just want to activate the recording meter you can do that by clicking on it. Click on it again to deactivate. Audacity itself is totally immune to "picking up noise" because it deals only with digital data. (If there is enough "noise" in...

Re: Carbonite Back up problem

I stripped out some of the metadata (id3 tags). The metadata was definitely not created by Audacity because it included some data that Audacity can't do. We're not there yet, but I'm hopeful that we may be on the way to identifying the problem. Try these two files: http://www.sendspace.com/file/2yo3...

Re: Audacity won't output in true stereo?

Try playing this MP3 in your usual media player. You should hear a tone in one ear, then quickly pan to the other ear. Does that happen?
Now import it into Audacity and play it. Does the same happen?

Re: Is Audacity supposed to open .aif files?

A quick search on Google and it looks like it's quite a common issue. Ableton use a proprietary format with a .aif extension that is only readable by Ableton products. Loads of references to the issue: http://serato.com/forum/discussion/217386 http://www.native-instruments.com/forum/showthread.php?t...
