It downloaded (eventually) on the second attempt. I've not heard this album in years :D The Zip extracted fine and I got a full 21:26.455 Export as MP3 128 kbps CBR stereo (LAME3.98r : -m s -V 4 -q 3 -lowpass 17 -b 128) Got the full 21:26.504 (a tiny bit longer than the original as expected) Verdict...

I'm looking back to your initial post and trying to work out what you actually want. You say that the OGG file is the "original waveform", but where did that come from? How did you record that? The main "problem" with the recording is that the overall sound quality is quite poor....

Problem is that the noise is still there when you just click on the meter. I didn't expect that to fix anything - it was just a handy tip ;) The noise level that you are seeing is about the kind of level that one might expect from "dither", but as you say, you are not resampling anything ...

Try setting the "Host" to "DirectSound" and in the Windows Recording Settings, find the "Exclusive Mode" options and select those.
