Re: Recording with JACK and a USB recording device in Audaci
I really appreciate you spending so much time on someone else's problem! Thanks! No problem. I'm curious ;) Yes, I installed pavucontrol yesterday while looking for solutions to my problem. Pavucontrol recognises the USB device, but this didn't help me a lot... That's good. Try this test: Start Jac...

Re: Residual channel noise
The point that I find very strange about the original poster's question is (emphasis mine): I have constant residual noise that fluctuates between -72 db and -84 db when I click pause and then record with 1.3.12 on a Windows 7 PC with the Audacity input all the way down to zero. After relocating cab...

Re: Error while writing WAV (Microsoft) file
The files that are giving problems probably have invalid characters in the Metadata.
Try this:
Click File > Open Metadata Editor, press "Clear" to empty the metadata, then export.
Try this:
Click File > Open Metadata Editor, press "Clear" to empty the metadata, then export.

Re: Recording with JACK and a USB recording device in Audaci
This is really weird.
I'm wondering if Ubuntu have recently done something strange.
Do you have pavucontrol installed? If not, install it (it's in the repository, so it can be quickly installed with Synaptic or Apt).

Re: Clipping with Built In Microphone on MacBook Pro
Does the MacBook Pro have a good Line input? If it is a really loud band, you may get away with one, or a pair, of reasonably high output (but not too "sensitive") dynamic microphones plugged into the line input (with a suitable splitter lead). If that has too high a noise floor (the band ...

Re: Recording with JACK and a USB recording device in Audaci
You're right again, it's PortAudio. I'm beginning to get confused. This is what I see: Thanks. It's easy to start getting confused after looking at the same thing for so long. :) I'm confused too. This really does not make sense. This suggestion is unlikely to help, but just so that we can rule it ...

Re: Error while opening sound device
If you are recording music that is playing on your computer, you need the "Stereo Mix" option enabled in the Control Panel. Generally it is best to also set "Stereo Mix" as the default recording device.

Re: Crash on sample rate change
That's not changing the "sample rate", that's changing the "sample format".VfishV wrote:I believe this is what he's talking about... Causes the crash for me every time as well.
