Re: Residual channel noise
If I have properly understood everything I have been taught over these last few days, this is noise from the soundcard (or noise from elsewhere in the system that has been picked up by the soundcard). At -100dB and below, it is going to be almost, if not entirely, inaudible to most folks at normal ...

Re: Residual channel noise
the effect is going to lift the sound by +50dB, taking the peak sound level to -30.8dB. So the loudest sound in the original recording sample is at -80.8dB, right? Correct. The "peak" level (before amplifying) is -80.8 dB. If it's peak is at -80.8dB there should be colour for it all the w...

"Trouble" in what way?
What exactly are you doing (step-by-step, click by click) and what is happening?

Re: Recording with JACK and a USB recording device in Audaci
Do you have a file:
/home/<user name>/.jackdrc
If you do, what is in it?
Try renaming that file (Jack not running), the open QJackCtl, check the settings are for USB, then start Jack using QJackCtl.

I've made the validator into an Analyze plug-in for easier testing.

Re: 78rpm EQ Curve Generator
We probably don't want the file to be hidden on Mac or Linux, so I've disallowed names starting with a dot. We probably don't want an empty, or "all spaces" file name either, even though these are legal before a file extension. For Mac I've disallowed colons (:) I've only tested this on Li...

Re: 78rpm EQ Curve Generator
Just looking at the filename validation code, does that cover all cases? I think so (unless I've missed any) http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa365247%28v=vs.85%29.aspx Are there no reserved names on Mac or Linux? Re: expand on Norm's new track name in display
(Copied from my e-mail to you Ed) The patch works fine on my machine (Debian Squeeze). I agree that yellow or orange are the most clearly visible and much better than black. I find that the (not patched) font size is a bit too small. 12 pt is a lot better on my display. I think there are pros and co...

Re: Installation failure
If you have any versions of Audacity on your computer, uninstall them or delete them.
Then download:
Recommended Download
Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7: Audacity 1.3.14 installer (.exe file, 18.4 MB)
from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/beta_windows

Re: No uninstall for Audacity and Lame.
Just delete the complete Audacity 1.2 folder. There will be a couple of registry entries left, but these are unlikely to do any harm. A registry cleaner should be able to remove these, though it is probably safer to just leave them. Once Audacity 1.3.14 is has been run it will create a configuration...
