What exactly are you doing (step-by-step, click by click) and what is happening?

Do you have a file:
/home/<user name>/.jackdrc

If you do, what is in it?
Try renaming that file (Jack not running), the open QJackCtl, check the settings are for USB, then start Jack using QJackCtl.

If you have any versions of Audacity on your computer, uninstall them or delete them.

Just delete the complete Audacity 1.2 folder. There will be a couple of registry entries left, but these are unlikely to do any harm.
