Re: Can't convert to wav or aiff

i open audacity, and when i click on a song to import it says "audacity attempted to use ffmpeg to import an audio file but the libraries were not found. Thanks, that tells us a lot. 1) The files that you are trying to import are not normal WAV or AIFF files. Normal WAV and AIFF files are hand...

Re: LAME thinks I'm on Windows

I'm positive I downloaded the Mac version. Do you think I should delete it and try again? No, not yet. I think you should look in the Help menu and click on "About Audacity" and see what it says. When I tried to export I got the message. "Cannot find file for writing." I think t...

Re: reset Preferences CFG file

resetPrefs3 now does incremental backup of the current Prefs CFG file before initializing. I think that if we want to go down this road, we really need a full "Preferences Manager" (something along the lines of the "Equalization Preset Manager"). I'm not sure that we need to go ...

Re: reset Preferences CFG file

I like the simplicity of just one "Reset" button, and the simplicity of just "updating" the audacity.cfg with "NewPrefsInitialized=1". (this does stop Audacity on Windows from inheriting settings from the registry). Suggested alternative wording for the "are you su...

Re: reset Preferences CFG file

A standalone "Audacity 1.2.x registry restore.reg" utility could be useful for anyone wanting to fully and permanently nuke Audacity 1.2.x from their system. It looks like it would probably be fairly simple too: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310516 (though "tampering" with the ...

Re: expand on Norm's new track name in display

Just a thought, how hard is it to add just a "Font Size" selector rather than the Font picker?
I think that being able to select the Font Size and colour are by far the most important additional features and will probably "sell" to the developers on the grounds of accessibility.

Re: expand on Norm's new track name in display

Unfortunately I'm getting a segmentation fault when I try to use the feature. Perhaps you could tell me, is the background colour of the "Font" button the same as the background colour of a "not selected" empty audio track and the background color of the "Color" button ...

Re: It doesn't record - need help

3) Don't give up ;) This is clearly all very new to you Dave. You wouldn't expect to learn to write a bicycle without falling of a few times ;) It's unlikely that you've broken anything. I wanted to transfer a song I had saved in my piano’s recorder so I plugged into “mic” in back of my computer, an...
