Re: Removing Surface Cruft in Software?

the actual recording seems to remain in phase (and is thus cancelled out, even during the noise burst). Amplify the track before splitting. You will then notice that the actual recording is cancelled out in the first 0.4 second (or so) and the final 0.3 seconds, but is not cancelled out from just b...

Re: cant hear throught my headphones on record mode

I have Windows 7 and I can't hear the sound thru my headphones in record mode. I can hear it during playback but when I try to record I hear nothing. I went thru all of the steps in FAQ section and made sure my sound drivers were all updated and anything else I could think of but still no sound...h...

Re: Noise in background

Any suggestions on low budget usb sound card, i need it only for guitar + vocal. "Guitar and Vocal" can be quite demanding when it comes to sound "quality". You may find some useful suggestions here: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9477 The ART USB pre-amp...

Generally, yes you should, that way it is just "updating" your original installation.

Re: Removing Surface Cruft in Software?

Try this excellent plugin written by Steve: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=62384 Unfortunately the damage is too severe for that plug-in to help - the "noise" lasts too long. The plug-in is designed to handle relatively short bad spots rather than noise that lasts for several seconds. What is t...

Re: Mysterious dissapearing aif files....

I saved a project - I use the same source file in several tracks (multitrck editing) - even though the source file is the same and hasn't been moved it shows up on one track but the other is completely blank and even if I amplify it it has no waveform. I could understand if I had changed directory ...

Re: Software Development Methodologies

Do you mind if I keep this thread alive, post back here occasionally with questions as they arise? Is that cool? No problem with that at all, though this is primarily a "help forum" for Audacity users, so don't be disappointed if you don't get a lot of response. Few of the people here are...

Re: Does not append ".txt" when saving an FFT as text

I think that you have just run into one of the "oddities" of cross-platform programs. Actually, the "oddity" is that Windows does not recognise file types unless they have a file extension. Other operating systems are able to recognise plain text files whether they have a "....

Re: Cue Sheets

I wasn't notified of your reply by email, so it took me a while to see that you replied here. No problem, good to see you back :) Thanks for all of the information. I think I now have a reasonably clear idea of what would be useful. It's a shame that Nyquist plug-ins are unable to read label tracks...
