Re: Creating Custom Backing Tracks
You can't selectively "un-mix" a recording. Once the instruments have been mixed together into a single mono or stereo track (in the recording studio), then that's it, they are baked in together like flour and eggs in a cake - you can't "un-bake" them. There's a trick called &quo...

Re: Write text file (cross-platform compatible)
Thanks Bill.
What happens in other Mac applications if you try to write a file called (for example) "hour:minute.txt" ?

Re: Does not append ".txt" when saving an FFT as text
Thanks for getting back. I'm not able to reproduce the problem, but I'm not on Windows so it may be different. So that I can get this checked out and submit a bug report, could you: 1) look in "Help > About Audacity" and give me the full version number. (it'll be something like "Audac...

Re: cant hear throught my headphones on record mode
Can you hear the music if you just "Play" in Audacity?Weezey64 wrote:I can't hear the "music" playing thru the headphones to sing with it.
If so, then all you need to do is to enable "Overdub" (near the bottom of the Transport menu).

Re: Write text file (cross-platform compatible)
Thanks Bill,
Could you also try some Mac specific things that you think could give problems, such as using colons or slashes in the filename / path (you will know better than I what is likely to give problems, and whether it does "the right thing" or not).

Re: Audacity doesn't recognize lame_enc.dll?
I'm exporting one file now and hope that the next file won't ask for the location again. Ensure that you shut down Audacity normally. When Audacity shuts down it will write the location of the Lame file into its Preferences settings so that it will not need to ask again. PLEASE NOTE that I download...

Re: Exported files are very quiet.
For example, I do a podcast that has two vocal tracks. I use the envelope tool to even out the volume between the two speakers. Then, as my last step I'd ... select everything and amplify? If I do this, how do I know how much to amplify by? Just trial and error until it's how I like it? The easy wa...

Re: Losing quality when editing only WAV files?
So, help set this up as an "editing for dummies" guide for Audacity. Is this what I should do to achieve bit perfect results: 1. Import the WAV file 2. Chop off deleted portions 3. Go to "Edit menu > Preferences > Quality" and change dither to "none" 4. Export as WAV 5...

Re: cant hear throught my headphones on record mode
Your USB microphone is a separate "device" from the standard computer sound card, so there is no direct (wired) route from one to the other. This means that the only way to route the sound from the microphone through to the headphone socket is for software to pass the audio signal from one...

Re: 78rpm EQ Curve Generator
There's a bug in "78rpm EQ Curve Generator" that we'd missed. On Windows, if the output path is set to "D:" the path is not found. (Thanks to Edgar for spotting the same problem in writefile.ny ) The problem is that if the working directory is a drive letter, then (setdir "...
