Re: timeline
Audacity does not use "standard time" (such as UTC ). The track always starts at time=0.0 . However, what you could do: 1) Start the recording 2) Look at your watch, make a mental note of the time and press Ctrl+M . This will place a "marker" label when you press the key. 3) Type...

Re: RECORDING 24-BIT WITH EDIROL UA-25
Audacity does not currently support 24 bit recording on Windows. Recording with the UA-25 in 16 bit should still produce excellent results, though you will need to be more careful about your recording levels than if you were using 24 bit. There are 2 advantages of 24 bit over 16 bit: 1) The 24 bit f...

Re: Software Development Methodologies
Just ask you one more thing? Would you say Audacity is more like cots software like Soundforge or Cubase? More like cots software than what? It's more like cots software than a cheese sandwich. No, I wouldn't say that it is much like cots software at all. Audacity is open source software (this is p...

Re: It doesn't record - need help
Someone said that XP can operate on 448 MB of RAM but that if you run it on less than 768 MB of RAM then it may act funny. I’m assuming that’s probably why I get those messages. They said 512 MB is probably the minimal amount that you want, and someone else said that ideally you should have at leas...

Re: Can't Open/Import WMA files
I changed the rip settings from Windows Media Audio Lossless, Best Quality to just plain Windows Media Audio You'll get better sound quality if you change the settings to WAV. Also, if your previous files were "Windows Media Audio Lossless", Microsoft supply a free "Windows Media Aud...

Re: Performing a paste mix
the past mix (or paste special) does have its uses . For example at the moment I am working with an 8track multichannel file (Logic and Protools were messing the panning in surround up by mixing the channels Audacity doesnt do that) anyway having to create 8 new channels is a bit of a pain - paste ...

Re: ReplayGain
Would it be possible to have a slider to adjust the reference level? That is essentially what the slider does. You can look at it two ways (at least), but it's still doing the same thing: 1) The audio is Normalized to a "standard loudness", then the "Adjust Normalized Output" co...

Re: Can't Open/Import WMA files
I generated a 30 second "chirp" and successfully exported it to a .wma file... now what? since it worked, and i was able to play it back as a .wma in media player, does that mean FFmpeg is installed correctly, and there is some other reason i can't *import* a .wma file? Yes that means tha...
