Re: Garritan Personal Orchestra

No, Audacity does not support VST instruments.
However, if you use GPO in a suitable host program and use that program to render the output as a WAV file, then you can edit the WAV file with Audacity just as you would edit any other audio.

Re: Can record on Win 7 but not on XP

What are you trying to record?
What equipment are you using?
How is the equipment connected to the computer?
Which version of Audacity are you using? (the three part number, for example "1.3.13". Look in "Help > About Audacity" for the version number)

Re: I can't choose which method to record my audio

Another broblem is with "tutorials" that don't match the Audacity equipment that I have. Much of the documentation has been written since development of the 1.2.x series ended, so it refers to the 1.3.x series. Audacity 1.3.14 for Windows can be downloaded from here: http://audacityteam.o...

You've missed some numbers off. The Audacity version has three parts (e.g. 1.3.10)
The last part of the number is important.

Re: songs are partially loading

The file is almost certainly an unsupported file type.

If you upgrade to Audacity 1.3.14: http://audacityteam.org/download/
and install FFmpeg: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... tallffmpeg
you will probably be able to import the file correctly.

Re: Cannot export mp3 MONO?

If the Audacity Project is entirely mono, then the exported MP3 will automatically be mono without you needing to do anything.

Re: increase latency to reduce mic clipping??

Anyway, I recorded yesterday using an SM 58 instead of the EV PL 84 condenser, and still had to turn the gain nearly all the way up or get in so close to the mic that it distorted, It's virtually impossible to overload a Shure SM58 with the human voice. They are designed to be able to handle extrem...

Re: Audacity 1.3.12 beta on Ubuntu

Set the recording input device in Audacity to "pulse", then press the record button. It should start recording, but I presume the "recording" is just a flat line? If so, press the Pause button, then open pavucontrol. Look in the "Recording" tab and you should see Audaci...

Re: Help

Hmm, I wonder why Pause is not working. Which version of Audacity are you using? (look in "Help > About Audacity". For example "1.3.14" The final digits are important). You're sure that you're pressing the right button? http://manual.audacityteam.org/m/images/c/c2/Control001.png
