Re: Help with retiming calculations - Change Temp - Toughie!

Whether Final Cut Pro uses ("original duration" - "target duration") / "target duration" or ("original duration" - "target duration") / "original duration" (or something else), I don't know, but this is how Audacity does it.

Re: Help with retiming calculations - Change Temp - Toughie!

So using your equations (with regards to video, or anything for that matter) 12 minutes of video to become 4 minutes of video uses the following equation:- (12 - 4)/12 No, it's: ("original duration" - "target duration") / "target duration" so that's (12 - 4) / 4 = 8/4 ...

Re: Help with retiming calculations - Change Temp - Toughie!

What calculation do I use to work out the percentage to slow a 4 minute song down to a 12 minute song? ("original duration" - "target duration") / "target duration" for your example: (4 - 12)/12 = -8/12 = -0.666666667 Then multiply by 100 to get it as a % -66.66667 Tip...

Re: WAV Metadata not changeable (Track Number)

I am running Xubuntu 11.10 and Audacity 1.3.13-beta (Unicode), I've moved this topic to the Audacity 1.3.x part of the forum. I consider WAV as nothing unusual to justify saving metadata incorrectly. But maybe I am wrong. Yes you're wrong ;) There is nothing "incorrect" about how Audacity...

Re: audacity 1.2

I've just tried it and it downloaded fine. Alternatively you could try this link: http://audacity.googlecode.com/files/audacity-win-2.0rc2.exe (direct link) This is a slightly newer version of Audacity. It is the "release candidate" for Audacity 2.0. The main difference between this versio...

Re: WAV Metadata not changeable (Track Number)

Which Linux distribution are you using? How did you install Audacity 1.2? (I'm not aware of any Linux distro shipping Audacity 1.2 :? ) Because Audacity is not a dedicated tagging program and supports so many different file types, it only has basic tagging functionality. Trying to fully support ever...

Re: Joining files with batch processing

There is also an experimental plug-in for "append import" (importing files end-to-end). The plug-in is available from this topic: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=59528 Take care not to download one of the obsolete versions - the latest version is available in the fir...

Re: audacity 1.2

You don't need to uninstall Audacity 1.2 before downloading Audacity 1.3.14, though it can help to avoid "file association" issues if you uninstall Audacity 1.2 before installing Audacity 1.3.14. If you're using Windows 2000, XP, Vista or Windows 7, go to this page: http://audacityteam.org...

Re: Digital Voice Recorder for Interviews

The Zoom Q3 camcorder may be of interest - the picture quality is "ok for YouTube" but not much to write home about, but the sound quality is said to be exceptional for a camcorder. There's no external mic socket which would be a problem in a noisy environment. For better video quality the...
