Re: newbie ??

Audacity can import 24-bit WAV files and export as a 16-bit WAV file. The new file will be a copy of the original, so you will still have the higher quality original. If you have a lot of files to convert you will probably want to do this as a batch conversion. Using Audacity 1.3.14: Ensure that the...

Re: Hi Pitch

Audacity 2.0 is due to be released very soon, so it may be worth waiting for that. If you want to receive an e-mail when Audacity 2.0 is released you can register your interest at the bottom of the Audacity home page: http://audacityteam.org/ If you don't want to wait, the "release candidate&qu...

Re: I lost my audiotracks in project

Unfortunately no. As your recordings were not saved or exported they no longer exist. For future reference, you should probably have just selected the track that you wanted to export, then used "Export Selection" (rather than deleting the other tracks). While the project is open you can us...

Re: WAV Metadata not changeable (Track Number)

IIRC Steve was working on a nyquist plugin to do that. What's the current status of that? Low priority at the moment. There are some limitations to what Nyquist plug-ins can do - in particular the GUI options are quite limited, so Nyquist is far from ideal for writing cue files. I may pick this up ...

Re: Metadata Tags in WAV Files

The Audacity developers generally prefer not to modify third party libraries as they would then need to maintain their modified library forever. Using a modified library can also cause compatibility problems if the computer on which Audacity is installed already uses an unmodified version of that li...

Re: remove noise during export to file

When you choose File/Export the message box with information about progress of exporting appears. In that message you can find following informations: - In the title name of exported file - Range of exported file and bitrate - progress bar - Estimated time - Remaining time Unfortunately in Polish t...

Re: Digital Voice Recorder for Interviews

I wouldn't recommend any lapel mic if the environment is noisy. The purpose of a lapel mic is that it is discrete and once attached to the person there are no other worries about the microphone position. The down side is that they pick up lots of background noise because they will typically be far a...

It could (and apparently does) work as you've just described.

"new duration" = "original duration" x ("% change" / 100)
which is possibly a more intuitive way than how Audacity does it.

Re: Hi Pitch

Ive noticed putting two or three diff music clips on a file and often they will be at diff speeds, That's because the old Audacity 1.2.x series do not support multiple sample rates in the same track. Audacity 1.3.14 does not have this problem and neither does the new Audacity 2.0 which is due to be...
