Is this a "feature request" for adding Initial and Final durations to the Change Speed effect? (so that you can just type in how long you want the audio to be).

Ok.. does that mean it won't work with Audacity? Basically, yes. Audacity only records audio devices, so as you have discovered it does not even see MIDI devices. When you use the keyboard with GarageBand, the keyboard is sends MIDI data to tell GarageBand what notes to play. GarageBand then plays ...
