Try playing with a combination of Echo, Reverb (GVerb), and Change Pitch effects. You will probably need to make multiple copies of the voice track, then apply different amounts of each effect to the tracks and adjust the levels so that the mix is not too loud (use the volume sliders on the left end...

If you get audio behind zero, it is probably because you recorded from time zero while another track was present. and "Overdub" is enabled. Before "Mix and render" this was messing up exported-track synchronization as well, and from the release notes the new M&R might preser...

If you get your recording levels right the recorded signal should be the same (give or take a few dB) as the input signal. The killer is if your record too loud - that will cause distortion and ruin the recording. It is essential that the recorded waveform never touches the top or bottom of the trac...
