The pitch indicated is the effect's "best guess" at the starting note of the selected audio. It is not necessarily correct. The important issue is how much you want to move the pitch up/down by.

You need to ensure that the microphone is recognised by Windows and enabled.
Only then should you start Audacity.
The microphone should then appear as a recording input option in the Device Toolbar.

Normal (uncompressed PCM) WAV files are not small unless very short duration.

Ensure that the Stealthplug is connected to the computer and recognised by Windows before you open Audacity.
Then launch Audacity and look in the recording input section of the Device Toolbar and see if there is a USB option.
