Re: Input filter for recording
If you're on Vista or Windows 7: Right-click over the Speaker icon by the system clock then choose Recording Devices to open the Recording tab of "Sound". Right-click over Microphone and choose Properties. There will probably be an Enhancements tab. If there is, look for an option for &quo...

Re: FastTrack + Shure + Audacity = left channel only :-(
To record stereo you would need to use 2 microphones. 1 mono microphone (such as the SM58) will always be mono. If you only want to record from 1 microphone, use input 1 on the FasTrack (the three pin XLR input), set Audacity to record 1 input channel (mono) using the Device Toolbar http://manual.au...

Re: tracks skip
Is it just this one Audacity Project that you are having trouble with or do other projects all have the same problem?

Re: How to save smaller file sizes in wav or mp3
LC_2012_03_01.wav looks far too small to be an ordinary WAV file.
Try installing MediaInfo and use that to tell you what the file format is.
Alternatively, if you can upload that file to a file sharing site (such as sendspace.com) and post a link, then I'll have a look at it.

Re: records but garbled/distorted
Check to see if there is an output level control on the turntable itself. On some models there is a knob hidden on the underside of the turntable.
