Re: input volume control
Audacity 1.2.6 is a very old version. Uninstall it and get Audacity 1.3.14 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ Turntable has no input volume control. Can I control the input level using the Audacity siftware? Probably not. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 you may be able to contr...

Re: dither on export (bug 22)
Exporting 32-bit float sine wave as a 24 bit integer file. The expected result would be for dither to be applied (assuming that it is set in Preferences). With dither set to "shaped": Generate a sine tone. Duplicate the track. Invert track 2 Ctrl+shift+M (Mix and Render to new track) Appl...

dither on export (bug 22)
http://bugzilla.audacityteam.org/show_bug.cgi?id=22 It has long been known that due to a bug in Audacity, when exporting a 16 bit track to a 16 bit uncompressed file format, if "dither" is enabled in Preferences, dither will be applied to the exported data. bgravato recently mentioned that...

Audacity 1.3.xx The last numbers are important (look in "Help > About Audacity") What settings do you have in the Device Toolbar ? If you're using the "Sound Mapper" option, what settings do you have in the Windows Mixer? (both the record and playback sections). Do you know what ...

Re: How to join recordings?
Will the recording atomatically continue from where I have left off, even though a flat line is showing.? No. If you get a flat line then Audacity is not receiving audio data. You can easily check whether that is the case after the recording is finished by playing the flat line portion - I'd expect ...

Re: ReplayGain
HI After a couple of attempts I have managed to downloaded the plugin and and get it into the Audacity plugin folder (something was blocking my ability to load the plugin directly to the Audacity plugin folder).... I have tried it on two files and so far so good, I think it works :) I am now going ...

Re: Can't detect lame_enc.dll on Windows 7
Hi guys, So i'm totally new to this whole audacity and lame thing. So i'm not sure if my question has already been answered. I'm using this program for school and I have installed the Audacity 1.3 Beta and it works just fine, I've been able to record what I needed. I attempted to install Lame_v3.99...

Re: "Best practice" for setting recording levels?
The most important thing is that the recorded waveform should not touch the top or bottom of the track. As long as there is a bit of clear space above and below the loudest peaks of the waveform that should avoid any nasty clipping distortion.
