Re: Buzzing in Mic Constantly

You're aware that most on-board sound cards are .. how do I phrase this nicely.... not very good?
On my laptop the on-board sound card is *#%@~ aweful. It hums, it hisses and the recorded sound is nothing like what is going into it. (playback is OK though).
Could you perhaps have a similar issue?

Re: please help-frustrating recording problem

I suspect that the problem is to do with USB, but I'm trying to get a clear mental picture.....

Re: opening error message

The "Sound Device" is the thing that is capturing the audio and turning it into data. Often this will be the computer sound card, but it could be an external device such as a USB turntable or a USB headset.

What are you trying to record and which version of Windows are you using?

Re: Can't Split Selection (Win7)

Have a look at this tutorial: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Tuto ... sting_File

Note that for most operations playback must be stopped (not "Pause" it must be "Stop").

Re: prosilver-audacity

Until we have the new forum images installed, the differences are quite subtle. The "Forum Rules" (top of page) will be indented a little to allow room for an icon. The main difference will be on the index page - in the Audacity 2.x section there will be just a single "OS" icon o...

Re: dither on export (bug 22)

Results in Audacity 1.3.12 are the same as Audacity 2.0 Results in Audacity 1.3.10 are slightly different - the values appear to be rounded rather than rounded down. Dither is not applied even when selected in Preferences. Audacity 1.3.4 also appears to round to the nearest. Dither is not applied ev...

Re: dither on export (bug 22)

Is it possible to be a bit more definitive Yes, certainly. e.g. by testing this in 1.2.6 and HEAD and comparing sample values like for like? Sadly no, because there was a different bug in early versions of Audacity that caused 24 bit sample values to be calculated incorrectly and that didn't get fi...

Re: Windows Media pLayer in vista won't load my saved AUDACI

In spite of following the audacity instructions, it did not automatically add the .WAV extension If you enter a file name that has a dot in the name, Audacity will assume that the letters after the dot are intended to be the file extension. If you need to use dots in the file name then you must als...
