Re: Error While Opening Sound Device After Upgrade from v1.2

Ensure that the sound card is fully connected before you open Audacity.

What settings do you have in:
1) Edit menu > Preferences > Devices
2) Edit > Preferences > Quality

Could you also list the alternative (not selected) option on the "Preferences > Devices".

Re: Spitfish Audio Units plugin no workie

I don't use Macs but the instructions here: http://audacityteam.org/download/plugins say: "To install new plug-ins, place them in the Plug-Ins folder inside the Audacity installation folder . On Windows computers, this is usually under "Program Files". On Mac OS X, it is usually under...

Re: Audacity cannot find correct path to file.

On a real XP machine I removed all Audacity keys from the registry, installed 1.2.6, set "Open with" to associate with WAV, double-clicked a WAV to open it in 1.2.6. Then quit and uninstalled 1.2.6, installed 2.0.0, double-clicked a WAV deep in the file structure that contained spaces in ...

Re: Overlay audio tracks like layers are overlayed in photos

I have tried AM modulation (which didn't work that well, but removing the carrier wave was quite interesting) and I haven't been able to find an FM equivalent bit of Nyquist code but it must be possible "Tremolo" is amplitude modulation (with a slow modulation frequency) "Vibrato&quo...

Re: Audacity-2 for x68-64 ?

Does your WxWidgets installation include the development headers?
Another possibility is that 2.9.1 may be too recent - the most recent version that I've tried is 2.8.12.

Re: Muting

If you mute the playback while recording "what is playing on the computer" there will be nothing to record. If you want to record sounds that are playing on your computer without hearing it, get some speakers that have an "off" switch, or plug in some headphones and don't wear th...

Version 2.8.10 is recent enough.
When I used 2.8.12 (from the PPA) on Debian I was getting a few glitches in the Audacity interface, so if 2.8.10 or later are available in your distribution repository then I'd recommend using that.

Re: Audacity cannot find correct path to file.

Which problem could you reproduce, "looking only for the first word in the path"? Yes, that was the question that I was replying to and I reproduced that problem on my virtual XP machine, then fixed it with the steps given. Having more than one version of a program, installed into differe...
