The problem is most likely to be that you don't have the Windows sound system settings right for recording.

Re: how doI ghet mymoney back?
To try and get your money back you will need to contact the person or company that you paid. Audacity is free, open source software and you did not purchase it from us as Audacity is a free download from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ If you use Windows, Audacity 2.0 has pretty good compati...

Re: How to use a particular file format.
Is it possible to save it ADPCM format? If it is how do I do it? Yes it is, but there are different versions of ADPCM and I'm not sure which version you will need. As Koz wrote, you will need to install FFmpeg, then you can use the Custom FFmpeg Export option and select one of the ADPCM options fro...
Re: focus
I don't see how your laptop can be ready "almost immediatly" A 2 hour wav is over 1GB. HOW fast is your HDD access - considering the program has to read the whole file and build the wav form before its available? That is the reason for the "read directly" option. With this optio...

Re: No sound on external speaker
1) the external speaker and headphones both cope properly with every type of output I have tried from the computer (through Windows Media Player): .wav files (e.g. Windows alert sounds and also .wav files exported from Audacity) 2) However, it is silent when trying to play back anything produced by ...

Re: pre record call
What sort of "call" do you want to record?
Which version of Windows?
What recording equipment are you using?
The simple answer is that if you can record it with Windows Sound Recorder then you can record it with Audacity.

Re: focus
Please look at this. The Audacity method is clumsy compared to the others. I don't really understand your complaint. If you are working on an old or low power computer then the apparent freezing is probably simply that your computer is running flat out and does not have the resources to do anything...

Re: Normalise Bug in Chain?
I don't think the problem is with "the way Chains are initialised". The fact that you saw the problem with the first file in the batch was a red herring. The conditions that make the issue occur are: "Read Directly" is selected in Preferences. The warning message for importing un...

Re: suggested audio capture device
Due to a limitation in one of the libraries that Audacity uses it is not yet possible on Windows for Audacity to capture (record) audio in greater than 16-bit. If the Audacity "Quality" setting is for "32-bit float" (recommended) then the captured audio data will be represented i...
