I'm not really able to deduce much from the pictures I'm afraid, other than it appears that the background noise level on side 2 appears to be substantially lower than on side 1.

Are you looking at the manual that is included with Audacity 2.0 or an on-line manual?

Could you attach a short (less than 6 seconds) audio sample in WAV format to your reply to demonstrate the two noise levels. (Use the "Upload attachment" option below the compose message box).
