Re: Help getting started with Audacity

What I want to do is take all the files from my music folder and change the file type (I want them all to be WMA, and they're mostly MP3), and also to change the bit-rate if I can. Audacity does not currently support "batch" exporting WMA format files, so yes it is possible to do with Aud...

Re: Envelope for simple fade, seems too hard

I don't know how long these things take to come about That depends on whether there's a software developer sufficiently interested in the proposed feature to write the required code. Even when the code has been written it can be some considerable time before the code works it way through testing an...

Re: Can I set the _real_ sampling bit depth?

For example, it could be an small label next to the mic levels meter, just informing the real bit depth coming from the input source. Audacity may not know the originating bit depth. When you record into a 32-bit track, the actual bit depth of the track audio data is 32-bit float and this is displa...

I've not spotted anything along those lines so far, but heck, people have to make a living and I've no problem with people charging for their work.

Re: saving project as.... file

Are you trying to overwrite an existing file?
What format are you trying to use?
How much free disk space?
How long is the recording?
What is the exact location that you are trying to save to.
Which version of Audacity are you using? (look in the Help menu > About Audacity)

Re: Clean up static from wave file

What sort of "static"? If it's "distortion" due to recording too loud then it's probably not fixable.
Perhaps you could upload a short sample (2 or 3 seconds in WAV format) for us to look at. Below the forum composing message box there is an "Upload attachment" tab.

Re: audacity warning "cant get core function pointer"

Reinstalling Audacity hardly ever (never) cures anything. To "reset" Audacity you need to reset the Audacity Preferences. See here for how to do that: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Preferences Regarding the sudden onset of this problem, have you recently installed any new plug-ins or ...

Using invalid characters in the file name, such as punctuation marks or slashes.
Try using only letters, numbers, spaces, hyphen (-), underscore (_) in the file name.
