Re: Need help with volume
Assuming that you have the music on one track and the singing on another, use the "Gain Slider" on the left end of the track to adjust the volume. Keep an eye on the playback meter while you are adjusting the levels - it's important that the overall level does not hit 0 dB, otherwise the m...

Re: Can't find the audio i/0 tab in preference for recording
If you already have a conventional (non-USB) turntable it would certainly be worth considering getting a USB pre-amp and using your existing turntable. Several users have expressed great satisfaction with getting their old treasured turntable serviced and then buying a USB phono pre-amp.

Re: Manual Duck (fade down and back up again)
Hi Peter, nice to hear such enthusiasm :P What variables does this have? The interface is deliberately very simple. There are (currently) just 2 controls: Manual-Duck.png Re. your questions, in the current version: The fades are symmetrical. Fade-In and Fade-Out times are equal. "Reduce Gain by...

Re: Bad .wav quality
Simplicity... Just no non-sense straight audio! I don't use Vista or Windows 7, but apparently the version of SoundRecorder in these versions of Windows can now only be used for recording sounds and does not work for playing files. My personal favourite audio player for Windows is Foobar2000, thoug...

Re: Professional Help Needed Please Help
Have I got this right? You have a 3 hr and 45 min recording as an Audacity project and it plays OK. You now want to split the recording and make 3 audio files so that you can (a) burn 3 CDs of the recording, (b) make 3 MP3 files. Have I got that right? What's the problem? At what point is it freezing?

Re: Audacity 2.0 in educational environment
I don't see how this relates to running Audacity, but this is what Microsoft has to say regarding that error message:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310049
It may be worth trying that "fix" just in case it makes any difference.

Re: Clipping/ Distortion
How common is the problem? Does the clipping occur just on a few records, or is it the same for all of your records?

Manual Duck (fade down and back up again)
A simple effect that smoothly reduces the level of the selected audio then fades the level back up again to the original level. Track 2 (below) shows the effect on a sine wave when the Manual Duck effect is applied with the default settings (12 dB gain reduction, 25% fade time): trackpanel000.png To...

Re: Can't find the audio i/0 tab in preference for recording
The in and out meter preferences is set at 30. it shows -24 under the meter while recording. The R track is clipping very badly and the L track is only maxing at about .2 ( this is what I meant about L on 0) Sorry Reta, I'm still not sure what you mean. Could you make a screenshot (picture) of Auda...
