Re: Can't record an mp3 file

Then why are you trying to record using "Line In"? Are you using a loopback connector?

Re: ubuntu 11.10: toolbars and other gui items are missing

is this a known issue with this Ubuntu distribution? I've not seen that before. Something to try: Go to your home folder and enable display of hidden files and folders (probably Ctrl+h or in Nautilus "View" menu). There should be a folder called .audacity-data (the dot at the beginning of...

Re: Unwanted sound in recordings

If you are using a laptop computer it could be interference from the power supply. If this is the cause, the easiest solution is to run from batteries when working with audio.

Re: Chain to trim off first 25 seconds

It is not currently possible to do that in an Audacity Chain. If you are comfortable with command line programs and batch files it can be done using SoX It would be possible in Audacity if Audacity Chains supported Nyquist Plug-ins. This has been written and tested but has not yet been included in a...

Cool 8-)
Out of interest, which "pre amp" did you update the drivers for?
It may be helpful for others if you could say where you got the updated drivers from and how you applied the update.

Re: I have no sound from my computer

It would probably be best to simplify the set up so as to get it working, then introduce other bits if necessary. At the moment it is difficult to know where to start looking. I need to be able to download on a CD from Audacity. I'm not sure what you mean. Are you wanting to record the audio from a ...

Re: each new track records all other tracks as well

though the only option i get is STEREO MIX and SOUND MAPPER should i set to Sound Mapper? Sound Mapper is likely to give exactly the same problem. If the Line or Mic inputs (whichever you are using) are not available, you will need to enable it in the Windows Sound Recording control panel. See here...

Re: Manual Duck (fade down and back up again)

am I right in believing that the Logarithmic shape is the one I can achieve with the Envelope tool (a concave face), that Smooth (Sine) is the one used by the Cross-fade effect (a convex face) and Linear is the one used by the Fade Out and Fade In effects? 2 out of 3 :) The Logarithmic shape is the...
