Re: Can't get the same samples using speed change

I presume that you mean it is PCM?
How many bits per sample? 8, 16, 24, 32, 64?
Signed integer? Unsigned integer? Floating point?
What's the sample rate?
How many audio channels?

Re: Method required for establishing "real" time

Is there a way to adjust the origin of the time scale? No. I worked out I can use the time shift tool to move the recording around, but I don't know how practical it is to have a 5 hour gap at the start. I'd imagine it would be a bit peculiar working in that fashion, but I think you could do that. ...

Re: How to automate save file and location in Audacity?

Audacity can't do that.
It may be possible to do something using Autohotkey. http://www.autohotkey.com/

Re: Distortion on recording

That's possible.
When I listened to the sample I didn't hear any actual "distortion" (overload distortion) though I could clearly hear the gain levels changing (some notes sound like they fade in rather than being struck). It is that "gain fluctuation" that my post was addressing.

Re: Strange message when launching Audacity

No that's not Audacity. Audacity does not have such a message and Audacity does not expire.

Are you able to run Audacity?
Are you sure that it is Audacity 2.0 (look in the "Help menu > About Audacity").
Did you download Audacity from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/

Re: I have no sound from my computer

I thought i could just do a direct connection from the microcassett to audacity using a axucillary plug into the computer's headphones port Not into the "headphone" socket - that's an output (for playing audio) not an input (for recording audio). You could certainly try connecting directl...
