Re: Anomaly in W7 recording baseline?
And right now don't be tempted to do the DC removal and the normalization amplification in the same pass. From 1.3.14 and in 2.0 there was a bug introduced whereby if you selct both options in Normalize the amplification is done first followed by the DC removal. It should be done the other way arou...

Re: Date time formatting possible? (For label plugin)
The only valid solution would be to rewrite the Nyquist snd-read and snd-save functions to give Nyquist access to the AU-files in the Audacity project folder, so Nyquist could copy and paste at arbitrary times of all Audacity audio tracks. But this is a major undertaking that probably never will ha...

Re: Editing Downloaded songs on Computor Earlier
If you also install FFmpeg then Audacity will probably be able to import the files that you downloaded. See here for FFmpeg: http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.php?title=FAQ:Installation_and_Plug-Ins#installffmpeg To import a file, File menu > Import > Audio Audacity only handles audio (not video)...

Re: No sound when recording
Thanks for the summary, that has lifted the mist of confusion from my head ;) (and you're using Windows 7 - that's important because of the weird way that it handles audio) Let's start with getting your system sound restored to normal, then we can start again with enabling recording if you wish. Try...

Re: Date time formatting possible? (For label plugin)
This means it would be possible to give the absolute "start" and "stop" times in some variables to Nyquist, where I first must look-up how this could be managed via the Nyquist transformation environment instead of brainlessly introducing two further "start" and "...

Re: Distorted Wav file after repair
Here's the repaired version (Ogg format for an easier download) http://minus.com/mbrFmTXlcy/ The first glitch was the trickiest, there was no suitable material to make a patch, so I cut out the bad bit then use the "Sliding Time Scale / Pitch Shift" effect to stretch the sound that was imm...

Re: Ripping Vinyl
Whatever sounds best, but if they all sound equally good then you have a choice between saving disk space and using small number or showing off and using big numbers. Big numbers are not necessarily better, but they sound more impressive. If a device handles 24 bit 48 kHz superbly well and handles 2...

Re: cursor movement off screen???
I'm not sure what you're doing, but there is no need to paste silence to move audio along the track, all you need to do is drag the audio with the Time Shift tool (double headed arrow button or F2 key). Audio tracks may be split into multiple "audio clips" by using the "Split" fu...

Re: Distorted Wav file after repair
What's the story here - those glitches are really strange - the ones that are not noise - they are the wrong audio :? It should be possible to repair, but it's not going to be a quick job. It's a shame that the recording is also clipped a bit. I'll get back to you later - possibly tomorrow if I get ...

Re: Chirping constructive feedback Death spiral
Somehow you have managed to create a feedback loop. I'm not sure how you've done that with a USB turntable, so let's try a couple of tests. Test 1 Turn off your computer. Turn off your computer speakers, or if you were using the built-in laptop speakers, plug in headphones. Disconnect the turntable....
