Re: Audacity software to be downloaded for HY-2010-TP
The instruction manual says to contact audacity.sourceforge.net for software info. That's a bit cheeky of them. They take your money then refer you to us for support! Yes there is a version of Audacity available for Mac OS X 10.5.8 (and it's free). You can get it here: http://audacityteam.org/downl...

Re: Sound corruption in the latest build with ASIO
I'm sorry, what I meant was, given that I've done the work to get ASIO working in Audacity why is everyone always trying to get me to stop using it. OK I see. Speaking for myself, although I rarely use Windows, the released Windows build of Audacity is a known quantity so if a bug is reported then ...

Re: No sound when recording
For the sound card settings, look near the time/date for a loudspeaker icon.
To reboot, the best way is to shut down completely, then restart. See here: http://windows.about.com/od/windowsforb ... ptions.htm

Re: Sound corruption in the latest build with ASIO
I don't understand why (1) people are against or don't support ASIO, It's because the ASIO license terms are incompatible with GPL (Audacity is licensed under GPL v2.) Audacity is not legally allowed to be shipped with ASIO support - the Steinberg license specifically states that the ASIO SDK is no...

Re: Availability of Audacity 2 deb package for Ubuntu
These steps work for installing Audacity 2.1 in Ubuntu 11.04 and Ubuntu 12.04 so I see no reason why they should not also work on a default installation of Ubuntu 11.10 Open a terminal and type the following commands: 1) sudo apt-get install subversion 2) svn checkout http://audacity.googlecode.com/...

Re: Sound corruption in the latest build with ASIO
ASIO is necessary in this situation. probably not a solution that you want to consider, but you could try a different operating system. ---This is where I noticed sound was corrupted after attempting to start another step. I'm not clear - are you saying that the corruption was a result of repairing...

Re: Breath & Pinging Sounds
The popping "P" effect can b reduced by using the "high pass filter" effect. Try it with a frequency setting at around 100 Hz. A better way is to avoid it during recording by using a "pop-shield". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop_filter Pop shields are not particularly ...

Re: Minimum and maximum sample value of a sound
Question: What would be a practical use-case for the knowing the absolute minimum sample value? None that I can think of. When I wrote (in the other thread) "absolute min and max values of the sound" I meant "highest and lowest signed values" (as seen in .AUP files: <simpleblock...
