Re: no devices with 2.x build
I'm not sure why "sudo apt-get build-dep audacity" didn't work. You should not need to enable "Source Code" in your software sources. Perhaps there was an Internet connection problem when you tried it. This is the full list of packages that are installed by build-dep audacity in ...

Re: Using Audacity to 'fix' hot CDs
Nice pictures Trebor.
Would you care to do one in the same style for a "lookahead limiter"?
I think these pictures would be useful on the Audacity wiki.

Re: Fixing bursts of sound
So the "burst of sound" is the correct audio, but just too loud?Wires&plugs wrote:He accidentally bumped the tape deck knob
If so you can adjust it using the Envelope Tool: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Envelope_Tool
(this tool is a bit fiddly).

Re: Please help! the recording is too loud
Unfortunately that recording is so badly damaged that only a small amount of improvement is possible. 1) Apply ClipFix (Effect menu) with the default settings (95%) Note that this effect is very slow - try it on a short section first. As processing is done in RAM do not try applying to very long sel...

Re: Audacity 2.0 vs 1.3
As soon as you have confirmed that Audacity 2.0 is working as expected you can delete or uninstall Audacity 1.3. Audacity 2.0 is compatible with Audacity 1.3.x projects. Please note that we do not recommend using Audacity Projects as an "archiving" format. Audacity Projects are very large ...

Re: How to make Audacity vocal mixdowns less muddy-sounding
I have NOT updated to Audacity 2.x for Windows because I first want to observe how it works for other users and avoid any Vista-type problems that may occur while the bugs are sorted. Audacity is not a Microsoft product. The reason that it has been so long for 2.0 to be released is because the deve...

Re: All Toolbar Buttons Freezing Audacity Help!
If you start Audacity (new empty project), then Generate some sound (e.g. Generate menu > Tone), do the buttons work correctly? How long is the audio that you are importing? If the audio is an uncompressed format (such as WAV) are you "Make a copy" option or using the faster "Read dir...

Re: Distorted Wav file after repair
One final question, so using ctrl-D, I actually get a new track with that segment I want to time stretch. But I rather want that segment to lie on the same "extra" track, so I won't end up with hundreds of tracks. Is there a quick way of doing it? I'd recommend working with 3 audio tracks...
