Re: Normalize and DC offset correction

...removing a DC component should be unnecessary... ...but only in theory, I'm often enough forced to work with bullsh**t equipment, where removing unwanted DC is the most important function of all. Another problem with bullsh**t equipment is that the offset may not be constant DC but rather a slow...

Re: Acoustic software development

If its for a web app, why not use Java or javascript?
Examples:

Re: Normalize and DC offset correction

The case of DC drift is so rare that I think we can deal with that on the forum as a very special case - I can only remember one post in the past 2 years where it was an issue, and IIRC it had to do with ADPCM decoding, not real DC drift in an analog circuit. Ha, I remember that - the offset was cl...

Re: output volume is too low vs input volume

How high up is the "DAW" control turned up?
Does adjusting that change the volume of the track being played back?

Re: Normalize 2 recording samples

For retakes, keep as much the same as possible. Same room, same person, same microphone, same mic position, same chair and if possible same mood and same day.

Re: Normalize 2 recording samples

The first half sounds like you are very close to the microphone (but "no pop shield " - you should get one, or make one ). The second half sounds a lot more distant and possibly in a different room. Many sound engineers will measure the microphone distance and keep a record in their record...

Re: Normalize and DC offset correction

That's nice. Yes there are some excellent improvement ideas. I'll need to contemplate a while :) Question: What is a practical use-case for "normalizing without DC removal"? Do I have overlooked something? Speed. DC is not "sound", so a "sound" card has no right to pass...

Re: dUSt: Dynamic Universal Sweeper Toolkit

but audio processing is physics, not real number math. and ultimately physics is a philosophical construct that aims to make sense of physical phenomena, in which infinity is a useful concept but without foundation in empirical fact. "At 5 O'clock" is a concept that we happily use everyda...

Re: dUSt: Dynamic Universal Sweeper Toolkit

the sample-rate is a frequency and with a frequency of zero one sample has 1/f = infinite period time We could argue all day about this ;) If we have 0 arguments per hour, how many arguments do we have in a day? How long will it be, from now, until we have an argument? In real number mathematics di...
