Audacity can't record MIDI (Audacity is an "audio" recorder, not a "MIDI" recorder).
The video tutorial that Trebor posted is correct.
Also, in the Audacity manual: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/faq ... #keyboards

Re: Best metadata settings/info for audiobooks?
I'm not sure, but I think that metadata is added through the ACX web interface. For example, this article describes how to add cover art: https://audible-acx.custhelp.com/app/an ... project%3F

Re: installing NYquist plugin RMS Normaliser
The Nyquist plugin RMS Normaliser is effectively obsolete now that Audacity has a "Loudness Normalization" effect: https://manual.audacityteam.org/man/loudness_normalization.html The Loudness Normalization effect is included in Audacity 2.4.2 which is available via the Audacity website: ht...

Re: Recording issue. Out of ideas.
Do you mean "quiet in your headphones", or "low level on the Audacity meters and low level in the Audacity track", or something else?

Re: edit DTS and DTS X
I have the FFmpeg import/export library installed and I was able to open a 6-channel DTS file from a ripped DVD. I didn't have any DTS files to test, but I found some demo files which open correctly in Audacity on Linux. So yes you're correct, Audacity supports importing DTS. In my case the audio f...

Re: Can I download the newest version to replace older version
Because you are updating from such an ancient version, I would recommend uninstalling the old version first.
During the installation, select the option to "Reset Preferences" when the option appears.

Re: Help a journalist trying to recover corrupt audio file?
"Import RAW" can work for WAV and AIFF files, but not for MP3 or any other "compressed" format. The Sony ICD-UX560 manual indicates that the recorder does record in MP3 format. Does your recovered file have ".mp3" as the file extension? If not, you could try renaming it...

Re: verson 2.3.1 fails on fedora 32
Can anyone comment on why the presence of pulse related stuff would be required? Probably because virtually all Desktop Linux distributions use it by default ( including Fedora ), and because ALSA alone usually lacks functionality that is very useful for multi-channel audio editors, such as mixing,...

Re: Grid lines on the time axis?
Do you use mouse wheel zoom? (Ctrl + mouse wheel)
That allows rapid zooming in / out, but note that if there is a selection, then zooming is restricted to keep the selection in view.
