Re: Using Audacity as a Db meter

Re: cannot loop

The "Pulse" setting should work fine as long as the system is able to keep up and remain in synch. If the system is struggling to keep up then directly accessing the audio device through ALSA can often be more reliable. Ubuntu 12 is the "heaviest" and slowest Linux distribution t...

Re: Using Audacity as a Db meter

There are many different ways to measure "loudness", but note that "loudness" is not the same as "sound pressure level" (SPL). Here's some useful links: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound_pressure http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decibe...

Re: Date time formatting possible? (For label plugin)

Word wrap can be a mixed blessing. If you have any long lines of code word wrap can be a pain and all too easy to have a "hidden" line break. With word wrap off you know that new lines really are new lines, but then it's a pain if you need to scroll to read a long line of text. Using a til...

Re: Backing up and Archiving

But Gale's link didn't go to the wiki page. That's a problem with long topics. From earlier in this thread: I see Bill is drafting something for the Manual, but as regards backing up Audacity Projects the Wiki has http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/File_Management_Tips#Making_a_backup_copy_of_a_proj...

Was the USB device connected and recognised by Windows before you opened Audacity?
Which version of Windows are you using?

it looks like it works & saves it to a folder i've made
Where is that folder? What is that folder called? If you have that folder open in a file browser window, do you see the files appear when you export them?

Re: Getting started!

Look in the Audacity "Help menu > About Audacity" and ensure that you have Audacity 2.0. If you have an older version, get 2.0 from here: http://audacityteam.org/download/

Have a look at these introductory tutorials: http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/Tuto ... _Recording
