Re: Most frustrating.
Again, in Windows XP, Audacity works flawlessly. Absolutely. On most XP machines recording either directly from a mic/line input or recording from Stereo Mix is usually dead easy and very reliable. There are hundreds of complaints on the forum that say words to the effect of "I updated Audacit...

Re: Help - Audio Conversion
I'm not sure exactly what you are doing, which options you are selecting.
When you select "Apply Chain" are you then clicking on "Apply to Files"?

Re: help
or add a second hard drive in the computer if space and slots allow. To clarify: External USB hard drives are not recommended for directly recording onto because they are likely to have trouble keeping up with the constant stream of data, but they can be an inexpensive and very useful solution for ...

Re: Backing up and Archiving
Personally I do not think we want to get into telling people how to back up files on their OS. I agree. I think that an article (wherever it ends up) should just deal with the various backup strategies that are relevant to working with Audacity. Quite often I'll not bother with Audacity backups at ...

Re: Nyquist Reverb plugin
Question: Is there any easier or faster way known how to get a frequency-dependent tapped delay? Not that I know of - that's basically the same method that I have used. Once some late reverb has been added a reasonably good reverb can be achieved with surprising few early reflections and the number...

Re: Install Audacity... then audio issues
My thoughts are if an application doesn't see a mic then they shouldn't be communicating the sound driver to change any settings... Providing that the sound card drivers work correctly Audacity will request audio from the sound card driver when you hit record. It is then the job of the sound card d...

Re: Silence required at beginning and end of track
I'm hoping that this feature will be available in Audacity as standard in the not too distant future. Anyhow, glad you've got the job done.rgbastro wrote:Thanks for suggestion, steve. It's not that important feature, rather nice to have.

Re: Most frustrating.
I can't comment on Suse as I've not used it in a long time so I'm unfamiliar with how they do things. On Mint, recording something that is plugged into your sound card should be straightforward. Right click on the loudspeaker icon and select "Sound Preferences" to adjust any settings. For ...

Re: Silence required at beginning and end of track
Can this be done via a chain command? I have looked into both 2.0 and audacity-1.3.14-unicode-alpha_ffmpeg_uncompressed_export_chains but apparently there's no command for this. Currently no, though if you build Audacity from the source code then there is a patch available (I'll look for the link i...

Re: Revert to previous version
Having used all versions of Audacity on XP since 1.2.4 I'm surprised that you find Audacity 2.0 to be noticeably slower than previous 1.3.x beta versions. (I agree that 1.3.x/2.x are heavier than the 1.2.x series, though the 1.3.x/2.x versions have more and better features.) Audacity 1.3.x back as f...
