Re: how can i open file from older version
The silent parts are likely to be due to missing audio data. See here for an explanation of how Audacity Projects work: http://manual.audacityteam.org/manual/help/manual/man/audacity_projects.html Audacity 1.2.x did not warn about "dependencies" whereas Audacity 2.x will warn about depende...

Re: Need to increase sound.
The absolute maximum peak level possible for an audio file is 0 dB. -1 dB is just a tiny bit quieter (not really noticeable) but has the advantage that some playback equipment will clip peaks that touch 0 dB so it is recommended to normalize just a little below. Peak level and "loudness" a...

Re: Analysis of Surface Electromyography-Signals
What do you mean by "into your csv file"? Open NotePad or any other text editor. Copy and Paste the data from the Nyquist Prompt debug window into NotePad. Apply any additional formatting as required. Save with a .csv file extension. It would be advantageous to use a better text editor th...

Re: Recording Multitracks Simultaneously
It may work with Audacity. I don't have any of those interfaces to check, but Audacity can record multiple tracks simultaneously provided that the hardware fulfils certain requirements. The most important issues are: 1) Audacity does not ship with ASIO support, so the device must be used with Window...

I think those instructions are wrong. Can you post a link to where you found them?
If you can describe exactly what you are trying to do then we can probably provide better instructions.

Re: Is editing at a digital or analogue level?
For final export format (as already stated, not for re-editing), the "Standard" preset for MP3 export will give pretty good quality for music. The "Extreme" preset will give excellent quality (but with a larger file size). The "Insane" setting is probably over the top b...

Re: Recovering corrupted .wav files
You could try the "File menu > Import > Raw Data" If you are able to import meaningful audio into Audacity then you can export it as a WAV file which will open in Media Player and other programs. If the CD-RW was recorded as a normal audio CD the data will be "16-bit 44100 Hz stereo&q...

Re: how can i open file from older version
Is there an error message or a warning message when you try to open it?
Do you have both the .AUP file and the _data folder for the project?
Was the old Audacity project a "recording" or was it made from imported files?

Re: Playback sound.
A 3 second stereo recording at 44.1 kHz sample rate in WAV (Microsoft) 16bit PCM format (CD quality) will be 516.8 KB (529244 bytes). What are you doing to get a file that is over 1 MB? Are you exporting as "WAV (Microsoft) 16bit PCM"? Are you recording at a very high sample rate, if so, t...
