How are you selecting the recording source for arecord?
Do you have more than one audio device? (for example an external sound card, USB tape player, web cam, ...?)

Re: Graph vocal harmoncs as Bar Graph
A good starting place would be to see what Audacity can do already. http://manual.audacityteam.org/manual/help/manual/man/analyze_menu.html#spectrum If you export the spectrum as a text file you should then be able to use that data in a spreadsheet or any other type of numerical analysis that you ca...

Have a look in the Windows Sounds control panel to see if Windows has recognised the device and that it is enabled: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Mixer ... es#vistacpjlmer wrote:The device is through a USB port and all of a sudden can't find the device again.

Re: Clean Speech
If you have run and closed Audacity there will be a file "audacity.cfg" (assuming that Audacity is correctly installed). It may be in a hidden folder and I don't use Macs so I don't know how you will find it - try looking on Google for how to find hidden files and folders on a Mac. When yo...

Re: Recovering corrupted .wav files
HOWEVER, the raw data for these otherwise blank tracks still reads out as containing full 1.1M data, just as they playable ones do. If the data is "0000000000000000000000000000000000..." then it will still show the same size as if it were valid data. Just because there is data does not me...

Re: install ok but not run in XT
The problem sounds like this one, but I don't understand why there is no error code.
Perhaps you could try this anyway: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=64122
