Re: finding a hot key(s) to run 'Export Selection'

Audacity 1.3.14 has been superseded. The current version is 2.0.0 which you can get here: http://audacityteam.org/download/ Audacity 2.0.1 is due for release soon and includes better hot key support so it's worth keeping an eye open for its release (you can register at the bottom of this page if you...

Re: Audacity as a tool to recognize genre

Audacity is an audio recording/editing tool. It does not do audio library management.
I don't know what a "weka" is.

Re: Suggest sound card for recording ~$200

For external sound cards, recording the computer's own sounds in Audacity is generally not supported on Windows unless you use a loopback connector (connect a stereo audio lead from the line out to the line in). For recording tapes/mini-disks etc. it is useful to have recording level controls (which...

Re: Sliding Time/Scale Pitch result sounds strange

I've uploaded a new patch for consideration by the developers, but I don't have a 64 bit machine to test it on. It builds and works correctly on Debian Squeeze 32-bit. Setting up the build environment on Linux is both quick and easy. The 6 steps given here are likely to be all that is required: http...

Re: concatenation

Topic moved to "Recording Techniques" (probably fits here as well as anywhere). As to the appending, in the past I added onto each small track using import, copy, paste, and cut. But after 20-30 times this packing became annoying due to mistakes. It would be far easier to select Import-app...

Re: Audacity on "older" PCs-some fine-tuning suggestions(SOL

Question: If I want to do an append record, is there a way to set Audacity so that it gives me a few countdown beats? No, Audacity will start recording immediately. Even if Audacity did have that feature it would be near impossible to get a really "clean" start to the recording. I find th...

Re: Audacity 2.x WIn downloaded but won't start

Try downloading a new copy of Audacity (just in case your first download was corrupt in any way) and run the installer again.
Install with all of the default options and if there are any error messages, make a careful note of what they say.

Re: How to record with my Digital Piano?

Yours has MID connections and USB sound, so that should work. Unfortunately not. I've just looked in the CA5 manual and the USB connection is: "for exchanging MIDI data". It is not USB "audio". To record the piano the "Line Out" jacks need to be connected to the "...

Re: audacity as a profecional recording studio softwair

I regularly use Audacity in a professional audio environment, though not often for recording. For recording I generally use either an 8 channel hard disk recorder (Yamaha), or a Zoom H2 or occasionally a big ProTools machine. The Yamaha is good for up to 8 channels as it is virtually silent and has ...
