Re: Sound in all other programs, but suddenly none in Audaci
I hope I'm not being naive and failing to realize that those working on Audacity are really in it for the money, but my understanding is you are not. That's correct. We do this in our "spare time" for "fun" (we must be mad :D) Does the recent flurry of responses answer your orig...

Re: Trimmer tool
Audacity is a "destructive" editor. When you "delete" (trim) a section of a track, it really is "deleted" from the track and not just "hidden". If you have not done any other processes then you can get it back by using the "Undo" function (Edit menu ...

Re: Suggest sound card for recording ~$200
The "FubarIO-MKII" has an excellent specification on paper and is massively expensive for a 16 bit no frills sound card. Their DAC (digital to analogue converter) devices get pretty good reviews but I've not found any reviews of the FubarIO-MKII (which I think is their only model that has ...

Re: Sliding Time/Scale Pitch result sounds strange (SOLVED)
Thanks for persisting. I've added a note to the bug report confirming that it works. It turned out the -ppa1 version of libmp3lame was from local(?) repository You probably installed it from a deb package. I usually keep deb packages that I've installed as it makes it easy to uninstall them if neces...

Re: Crackle Noise while recording
If you need help with a problem it is generally better to start a new topic rather than add onto the end of an old one. Could you post a short sample of a recording so that we can see/hear what sort of crackle noise it is (just a couple of seconds in WAV format) See here for how to post WAV files: h...

Re: Portions of wave form have flat tops and bottoms
First thing to do is to check all of the leads and connections. In particular check that you really are connected to the "Line" in on the Soundblaster and not the "Mic" input.

Re: Can't export as WAV or AIFF file.
"Error while writing WAV (Microsoft) file (disk full?). Libsndfile says..." Then it says a bunch weird accents, symbols and that box used when you don't have the text (I'm assuming gibberish) That usually indicates that there is invalid metadata. Go to "File menu > Open Metadata Edit...

Re: HELP: Recording With Numark Stereo I/O USB Soundcard
Ensure that the Numark Stereo IO is connected to the computer and recognized by Windows before you launch Audacity.
Then open Audacity and select the USB option for both Recording (Input) and Playback (output) in the Device Toolbar.
