Re: Unable to compile Audacity (Subversion trunk) on Fedora
I removed "--without-ffmpeg" from my "configure" command line and recompiled. The result is that my problem appears to be solved :) Sorry for the noise... No problem. User feedback is very useful. FFMpeg is a very fast changing library which makes it difficult to track, especial...

Re: Unable to compile Audacity (Subversion trunk) on Fedora
Hmm, that doesn't look quite right does it. I'll ask about this. Building against versions of FFmpeg above 8 are largely untested so I'm not surprised if there are problems with FFMpeg 9, 10 and 11. Try adding this to your configure options: --disable-dynamic-loading This is a new configure option w...

Re: Unable to compile Audacity (Subversion trunk) on Fedora
It may be that Audacity is not compatible with your version of FFMpeg. A similar case here: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=66090&hilit=ffmpeg You could try building without FFMpeg support, or change your version of FFMpeg to a supported version. I think that to build with...

Re: no guitar sound
Do you have your headphones plugged into the UCG102 ? (I presume that "UC6102" is a typo?)

Re: recording stops working
The weakness that I see in that specification is the amount of RAM. You appear to have only 2 GB of RAM which is the absolute minimum for running Windows 7 64 bit (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/system-requirements). You could try tweaking your system to use as little RAM as po...

Re: checking an mp3 for clipping [how to/questions]
My understanding is that encoding audio as MP3 is a lossy process and decoding an MP3 accurately reconstructs that encoded data. The data loss occurs during encoding, not decoding. If there is any clipping damage in the MP3 then it's too late to do anything about it. There is however a possibility t...

Re: Aud2.0 on Vista - "Noise Removal" freezing up/acting wei
Just use it normally. Import a scratchy/hissy recording with gaps you can hear the hisssss. Get noise profile, then use noise removal at a setting of 15dB. I tried that and Noise Removal behaved as expected. I'm surprised that reinstalling made any difference unless you also reset the Audacity Pref...

Re: Making a USB Voice Recording Better
It's not uncommon for CD players to clip just a little below 0 dB, in fact one test report that I read tested about a dozen different (good quality) CD players, and only one of them could actually go all the way up to 0 dBFS (the others were pretty close to 0 dBFS but not quite there). The way I loo...
