Re: High pitched hiss in my set.

I thought that you tried it without there being a "loop" situation :? "If you connect the UCA-222 to the laptop, with nothing else connected to the UCA-222...." Is there much difference between that and the 202? The differences that I know of: The UCA222 is pink and costs a littl...

Re: Garbled track?

Is this a common problem? Difficult to say. My main computer is quite old and not very high spec, but I primarily use Linux which tends to be a lot more efficient and less bloated than Windows. My old (really old) computer is a 500 MHz Pentium running Windows XP SP3 and that also manages without sk...

Re: High pitched hiss in my set.

I use a UCA 202 with an old Acer laptop and the noise levels are surprisingly good for such a cheap device.

Re: Audacity et Skype

Here Skype and Audacity are both set up to use PulseAudio.
PulseAudio Volume Control is then used to route the USB input to both applications.

Re: 4 headsets and a mixer

The other headphone problem is that most small mixers have only one headphone socket. A simple "splitter cable" can be used to split the one headphone output between two pairs of headphones, but for more than two pairs you really need to looking at using a separate headphone amplifier. The...

Re: Repository?

Audacity does not release packages for Linux, only the source code. The people that maintain the repositories for different Linux distributions can then "build" Audacity from the source code and make it available as a downloadable package. The easiest way to install Audacity 2.0 (or 2.0.1)...

Most mixers have only XLR for microphone inputs. If they also have 1/4" jack, those are usually for instrument inputs that have a much higher signal level.

Re: 4 headsets and a mixer

I think what Koz means is that within your (apparently simple) enquiry there are a host of possible complications. To over simplify my question in my original post, I simply asked do I have to have head sets with XLR in puts to record talking among 3 people, and a mixer with 4 XLR inputs? Did my fir...

Re: What are "pk" Files?

".pk" files have nothing to do with Audacity.
They are used in Adobe Audition Projects (formerly CoolEdit).

Are you sure that you set the WAV files and not the Audacity .AUP project file?

No, Ctrl+C is not a pseudo delete or any other sort of "delete". It is Copy.

The standard windows shortcut Ctrl+X can be used for "Cut", or, my preferred option, the Del key for Delete.
