Re: eliminating spikes in live recording
If you're only wanting to reduce the spikes by a few dB then you could use this "limiter" effect: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=59143 Note that the audio should be Amplified/Normalized to 0 dB before using the effect. The effect should only be used within the norma...

Re: Amplification
I had imported 17 tracks and even though I only had one selected, it was analyzing all of them, That should not happen. I don't see how it can happen - Nyquist plug-ins can't do that, they can only process tracks that are selected. By default, if you don't have a selection in Audacity and you try t...

Re: preserve section labels when cut&pasting or merging proj
It can be done, but it's a little bit tricky. For this to work correctly, you need to select the same number and same type of track(s) in the "paste to" project as the "copy from" project. Mono audio tracks can only be pasted into mono audio tracks, stereo into stereo and label i...

Re: Recording issues - sound cutting out
Re the UCA202, is this something that will improve the quality of my recording sound? I use a UCA 202. The recording quality of the built-in sound card of my (Acer) laptop is rubbish. The recording quality of the UCA 202 is very much better and quite good enough for copying tapes to CD. The main li...

Re: Can you disable infinite dragging to the right of a wave
I presume that you're aware that: 1) You don't need to drag exactly to the end of the track to delete the end of the track. Dragging a little way past will work just as well. 2) If you drag too far past the end, while you have the mouse button held down you can drag back the other way to get the sel...

Re: mp3 weird problem
As an experiment, what happens if you convert the song to mono (Tracks menu > Stereo Track to Mono)?

Re: Can you disable infinite dragging to the right of a wave
Does anyone other than negev actually get "infinite dragging" beyond the end of the selection? I've tested on Linux and Windows and drag selecting will extend for some distance beyond the end, then it stops. It does not extend infinitely. Is this behaviour different on Mac OS X with Audaci...

Re: command-line interface rather GUI?
This thread's a few years old. In the time between, has a command-line interface been created for simple things? Such as open a file, export it as another format, and to do so as though the user had gone through the GUI? Audacity has remained as a GUI based application. For command line functionali...
