Re: Hold the cursor in the center of the display

I wonder if there's a Feature Request for this...? Yes there is, but as you say, it would be less efficient and many users would rather utilise their CPU cycles handling the audio rather than fancy graphics. Re: Amplification

I presume that the "Hot in the Shade" album is already in digital format on your computer. If not, you will need to do that first, with a strong preference for a lossless format such as WAV. MP3 encoding reduces the sound quality, and processing an MP3 than re-encoding to MP3 causes additi...

Note the word "Experimental". That means that it is probably quite buggy. Also read the "Known Issues & Missing Features" at the bottom of that page. If you're a C+ programmer, this could give you a start on something to get your teeth into. Audacity is always in need of good...

Re: Total Newbie is Lost!

the whole screen suddenly grayed out, and I couldn't do anything at all! WHAT'S THAT ABOUT? Linux may have been prompting you for a password for something. This is most likely unrelated to Audacity as Audacity does not require any special permissions to run. Usually if this happens there is an &quo...

Re: How to change pitch without creating echo?

Many sound cards on Windows have "Environmental Settings" that can add special effects to audio playback, ranging from a simple Equalizer effect, to "Grand Canyon Echo" and "Concert Sound" effects. Windows Media Player also has special effects, including their "Wow...

Re: Please Help, Error: not well-formed (invalid token)

That may not be too bad then, though there may be some (up to 9) short sections missing. Do you have the Unicode version of Audacity installed now? If so, then: Try opening the project and when that error appears, select the 2nd option "Treat missing audio as silence (this session only)". ...
