Re: LP Rip with Distortion at the end of side one

For the very small glitch we seem to have corruption (or whatever) only on the LSB's. It's not LSB. LSB errors are to be expected, but the error shown is very much greater than LSB (as shown by the dB figures in my earlier post ). The spectrograms were generated as here: http://manual.audacityteam....

Re: LP Rip with Distortion at the end of side one

In Audacity, I see the meters hovering around the -55dB mark with no input, no input means no album playing on the turntable and not an open circuit. That shouldn't be happening. With my cheap Behringer USB sound card connected to a Cambridge Audio line output, the noise level with no no signal is ...

Re: LP Rip with Distortion at the end of side one

i) Where does it say in the manual 24 bit Audacity is 16 bit + 8 bits of zero padding In the release notes (included with the release version of Audacity, displayed during installation, and also available on-line, but rarely read by anyone :? ) http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Release_Notes_2.0.0#...

Re: LP Rip with Distortion at the end of side one

@Gale: An issue that I really don't want to bring up (again), but it is relevant, Wrong person. that was me :P Re. Windows recording always 16 bit: http://audacity.238276.n2.nabble.com/24-bit-recording-on-Windows-td2505042.html#a2505042 For what it's worth, I think that PortAudio may now be able to...

Re: Transport and Meter toolbars dockable in the Mixer Board

Can we assume if it is disabled it will be set to unity gain, even if previously set to a different value? That's how I would program it (if I could ;) ) There seems to be a contradiction there: either the Master Fader draws an envelope, or it moves all the gain sliders in sync. No contradiction, i...

Re: 5.1 surround sound

A normal audio CD does not do 5.1 surround sound - they are 2 channel stereo.
To play back 5.1 you need a 5.1 system and 5.1 media (such as a DVD with 5.1 sound or a "Super Audio CD" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Audio_CD)

Re: Product Authorization Code

I don't what option 4 is but it seems that I need to access Audacity to do it. There is a workaround for doing this even if you can't launch Audacity. Download the attached file and rename from audacity.cfg.txt to audacity.cfg Put the audacity.cfg file into: ~/Library/Application Support/audacity/ ...

Re: 5.1 surround sound

If you want to record true 5.1 sound, you will need a multi-channel sound card that can record 6 audio channels simultaneously (and be compatible with Audacity). You may be able to "fake" 5.1 sound by creating 5 mono tracks in Audacity and fading sound in/out of one track while fading out/...

Re: Product Authorization Code

You may need to either: 1) Authorize Sound Soap. 2) Uninstall Sound Soap. 3) Move the Sound Soap plug-in to somewhere that Audacity won't find it (for example into a subfolder of its current location). 4) Disable VST or AudioUnits in Audacity (depending on whether Sound Soap is a VST or AudioUnits e...
