Re: global record hotkey

Audacity has not been designed for background recording. It does not support global hot keys.

Re: Transferring my LP's but Audacity slo-mo's the music!

Windows does support 24 bit audio in that 24 bit audio can be played, edited, copied,.... When Audacity records, it sends a request to the OS sound system for the type of data that it wants. If Audacity is set to record 32-bit float (default) then Audacity requests 32-bit float format audio data. Th...

Re: Measuring Power

You would need to export the Spectrum data as a text file (Export button), then import the data into a spreadsheet for further analysis.

Re: Convolution DSP

Unfortunately (mult (real-random -0.1 0.1) s-in)) is not evaluated each time it is triggered. It is evaluated once at the start only.

Click at the point that you want to start playing - by default the cursor will jump back to this point whe...

Re: Make Dialog box sticky?

CORRECTION: with Amplify the values are not remembered. When you invoke Amplify it calculates each time the amount it can amplify to take the maximum peak to 0.0 and then populates the dialog box with those values. Apologies for the earlier misleading comment    TIP: this means th...

This is where I was learning from http://audacityteam.org/manual- ... nner3.html Thanks. That's the old Audacity 1.2 manual. The current manual will be available in the Audacity Help menu if you have the recommended Windows installation version, or alternatively it is available on-line here: http:/...

Re: Default Values

And Wahwah seems to remember last used settings Not after restarting Audacity. Again, the defaults are quite arbitrary. The default could just as easily be with all controls at the mid position. And I note that the Manual doesn't warn you of this slightly odd (and, to me certainly, unexpected) beha...

Re: Default Values

Re. Normalize defaults: The fact that at different times the default has been 0, -1 and -3 dB is I think an indication that there is no universally accepted "right" value for the default normalize level. I'm quite happy with the default being -1, but I tend to change it to suit whatever I'...
