Re: Recording mixes to my Laptop

Connect the mixer to the RCA inputs of the UCA 202. Connect the outputs of the UCA 202 to your amp. Connect the USB from the UCA 202 to your laptop. Open Audacity - if it's already opn, close and restart it. Set both the input and output settings in the Device Toolbar to the USB option: http://manua...

There are several different ways to zoom: http://manual.audacityteam.org/manual/h ... oming.html

Re: VST Plug-ins

What did you have in mind for 70 Something like this: http://www.thomann.de/gb/art_usb_dual_pre.htm 2 good microphone inputs with proper input gain control. Nice solid metal box and USB connection. Sorry it's a bit over 50 quid. Add any old cheap dynamic mic to pick up the kick drum and use your go...

Re: Convolution DSP

Now trying it with a "real" sound. I created a track with the sample rate set to 1 Hz then ran this code to generate a sound with 3 samples, values 0.1, 0.5 and 0.9 (snd-from-array 0 1 (vector 0.1 0.5 0.9)) Then modifying the trigger code to use that sound: (setf ir (snd-from-array 0 1 (ve...

Re: Convolution DSP

You're right. Sorry about that, I did some tests last night that suggested the opposite, but it was very late, and running some new tests today confirms that it is re-evaluated on each instance. (not sure what I did wrong last night :? Taking your first example where SIG is a behaviour: (snd-from-ar...

Re: Audacity Fade effects

Yes Bass Boost could go, but the developers don't seem interested in replacing it with your Tone Control. Losing Preview in the Nyquist replacement may be a reason. The lack of "Preview" in Nyquist effects is a major drawback for many effects. Adding "Preview" would arguably be ...

Perhaps we could publicise the pseudo "log fade-in" trick that I described to waxcylinder (as a tip on the wiki?):

Re: Audacity Fade effects

If you don't replace Cross Fade Out with Pro Fade Out, what are you going to replace the two Cross Fades with? Does that need to be decided first? What if the "cross-fade" effects were removed - would people complain? What would they complain about? I doubt that their complaints would be ...

Re: Audacity Fade effects

we also lack a multi-point text envelope There is one available on the http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Nyquist_Effect_Plug-ins#Text_Envelope I think either it should be shipped in Audacity (as one solution to making custom fades to/from non-zero) or it should be publicised much more widely, inclu...

Re: Professional sounding fade out.

Discussion about the broader question of shipped effects split to here: http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=67006 Perhaps that broader question needs to be answered before a decision can be made regarding whether or not to ship "Pro Fade Out", but on its own merits I thi...
