320 kbps CBR (preset "Insane") is the best possible quality for MP3.

Chat software uses mono, so that's the same as setting Audacity to mono.

With the track selected, press the "Menu key" (usually on the right side of the keyboard between the right Windows logo key and the right Control key, or between the right Alt key and the right Control key), then press "N".

When you get the export screen up for selecting "MP3", click on the "Options" button. 320 kbps is available in the "Presets" as "Insane". The "Extreme (220 to 260 kbps)" preset is also excellent sound quality and worth trying. If you may be doing fur...

Most microphones are mono. Exactly how a mono input is distributed to a stereo track is determined by the sound card driver. Skype is mono so it's not an issue there. To get a mono source to record correctly in Audacity, set the number of channels to "1 (mono)" in the Device Toolbar: http:...

Your peak recording level is around -24 dB which is very low. To increase the recording level from your microphones, look in the Windows Sounds control panel and see if you can either turn up the recording level there, or enable "boost" to the recording level. See here for how to get at th...
