But after counting the samples, don't export the files again or the gap will change.
You will need to import the MP3 files, count the samples, then close the project without saving so that you know the gap length of the files that you have imported and not changed them.

Re: Muted/Soloed track plays in Audacity but is not in MP3
As I've said all along, I don't like the way that it is at present, and I strongly advocate for change. In this dialogue I'm just trying to explain the rationale behind why it is the way it is (and sadly not doing a very good job of it). We had a situation before where several of the support team fe...

Re: Audacity and Nyquist environment
1. How to join Audacity chain with Nyquist for batch processing of multiple files The Audacity 2.x "Chains" feature supports Nyquist plug-ins that are of the "process" (effect) type. See here for information about plug-in types and the required header data: http://wiki.audacityt...

Re: Lame Converter MP3
This is what I am downlading, Audio Converter That is NOT Lame for Audacity. I suggest that you fully uninstall that program and delete it from your computer. If you are concerned that you may have picked up a computer virus somewhere, I'd recommend that you apply a full, in-depth anti-virus scan w...

Re: Wave file quite but converted MP3 has hiss to start
I don't know why you have a noticeable amount of hiss. I don't get that on my MP3s. Try turning off the dither as suggested, and if you still have a problem, please post a short sample (just a few seconds) in both 32 bit float WAV format (which will be identical to the original in Audacity) and the ...

Re: Short time delay when recording
You don't have the "same problem". This is the Mac OS X forum. Dell do not make Mac computers and Mac don't use Sound Blaster cards. Check that Software Playthough is disabled (not selected) in the Transport menu. If that's not the problem then it's down to the computer sound system and it...

Re: How to create a loud tone?
Audacity does not have "loudness" it has "signal level". The same for all recorded audio. "Loudness" is the result of converting that signal back into sound. I have a CD recording of the 1812 overture with two orchestras, a huge choir and real military cannons firing. I...

Re: Wave file quite but converted MP3 has hiss to start
It may start off as 24 bit PCM, but it's no longer 24 bit once it has been encoded to MP3 format. Technically speaking, bit depth is only meaningful when applied to pure PCM devices. Non-PCM formats, such as lossy compression systems like MP3, have bit depths that are not defined in the same sense a...

Re: Muted/Soloed track plays in Audacity but is not in MP3
I want that Muted track adding to the mix Which Mix? There are two mixes: 1) The "monitor" mix that you listen to through your headphones / speakers. 2) The "Export" mix that is written to the file. The whole point of having two buttons is that you can then control the two mixes...
