Re: Status of Mezzo dev, Audacity 2.0 Backend

Audacity can be built with VS2010 (though the core developers have no intention of moving to MSVC 2010, due (a) to the 'This is for evaluation purposes only' MSVC 2010 Express splash screen and (b) bugs in MSVC 2010 Express that are not present in MSVC 2008 Express). See here for a topic about build...

Re: Annoying Buzzing Sound in Recording

I can hear a low level hiss - much less than I get when recording from my laptop's internal sound card.

Re: Unlocking cursor position

I wonder if some of the problems with "Snap To" are occasioned by users who, .... use the Selection Start field to specify where they would like to be positioned, and then select "Snap To" thinking that the cursor will jump to that position? An interesting theory (and as good as...

Re: Issues with Audacity recovery utility

The recovery utility was written for Audacity 1.2.x as that did not have any built-in recovery feature. Audacity 2.x has recovery built in which can usually provide successful recovery the next time that Audacity is opened. If the automatic recovery fails, then the project is likely to be so badly d...

Re: Status of Mezzo dev, Audacity 2.0 Backend

The wiki indicates that it was edited in 2010 and 2012 why it wasn't classed as inactive or superseded in those edits The Audacity documentation is not written by the developers but by other volunteers that make up the documentation and support team. As you are probably aware there is a tendency fo...

Re: Help understanding Sampling Rates in Windows 7

There is some more explanation here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/wiki/Windows_7_OS#sample_rates Audacity can only receive audio at the requested project rate if the sound device supports that rate and if you tick (check) both "Exclusive Mode" boxes in Windows and choose "Windows Dir...

Re: My Effects Menu Is Too Long

However, I do not see "categorization" as the only answer - or even the best answer - for my needs. I (currently) see it as "the best" answer, because it could provide what you need, what Koz needs, what waxcylinder needs and what Josephine Bloggs needs. As Koz wrote: "...E...

Re: (soft) file associations lost

Even if you do what i did, i don't think you still wouldn't associate .wav or .mp3 to audacity 2.0.2 cuz i wasn't able to do that myself. hehe If you want to be able to associate WAV / MP3 files with Audacity, you need to remove the old registry settings. See here for an easy way to do that: http:/...
